What even is FCCLA?

Most of my students didn't know what FCCLA was... until a group of students approached me and asked if I would use a project rubric in my classroom to bring awareness to the organization. "OF COURSE!"

I was an FCCLAer myself in highschool. I gained skills that I still use to this day. Public speaking was not a strong suit for me but now I speak in front of kids all day long and have coached a speech team! Personal skills like how to talk to someone, how to answer questions, how to make new friends, how to get along with teammates- these are all skills I learned in FCCLA.

FCCLA is FCS classrooms CTSO (career and technical service organization). There are so many unseen hoops that CTE teachers must jump through in order to make sure they remain an approved program with the state and remain eligible for additional funding. FCS classrooms would not be as dynamic and impactful without their CTSOs. Please encourage your student to join organizations that impact their future, their now and their communities!
