Today a group of FCCLA-ers went with to donate fresh baked bread to the local food shelf. We donated 24 braided whole wheat loaves and 5 sourdough. Each student prepared, baked and packaged their own loaf. This is all possible because of King Arthur Flour Company. Every year I fill out a grant application to participate in their "Bake for Good" program. King Arthur sends us everything we need to make a whole grain dough. The only stipulation is that students must donate half to a local nonprofit. Students learned the science of bread making, practiced culinary skills and had an opportunity to share with their community and impact it for the better.
Thank you to King Arthur Flour Company for your continued partnership through this program. These students and community benefit greatly from your generosity!
Thank you also to Statefarm for donating bags to help package and move our product! We love your generosity and your dog!
Thank you students for your dedication and to FCCLA students for giving up your time to assist with delivery.
*Hey FCS teachers! If you also participate in the King Arthur Bake for Good program... feel free to use my powerpoint for your intro to shaping dough prep!
